Eustace Mullins lives

Hume's Ghost sent me an e mail yesterday with this link to Media Matters. The gist of their report is that Glenn Beck--who not too long ago approvingly cited Elizabeth Dilling's 1936 screed The Red Network on his show--is now shilling for Eustace Mullins' Secrets of the Federal Reserve. Here's a little of what Beck had to say about Dilling (click here for transcript):

This is a book, the Red Network. This came in from 1936. People — McCarthy was absolutely right. Now, he may have used bad tactics or whatever, but he was absolutely right. This is a book — and I'm getting a ton of these from people who were doing what we're doing now. We now are documenting who all of these people are. Well, there were Americans in the first 50 years of this nation that took this seriously and they documented it. And this is from 1936. And in it, it talks about, it's The Who's Who and Handbook For Radicalism For Patriots. This is, who were the communists in America. The overwhelming number of communists? Labor unions.

Dilling, though well-known in her day, has been generally forgotten (except by white Supremacists, hard-core conspiracists, and anti-Semites); Beck really might not have known what an odious Jew-hater and racist she was. Her The Plot Against Christianity, which was reprinted as The Jewish Religion: Its Influence Today can be found in its entirety here; one brief exemplary quote gives its flavor: "The cry of 'persecution,' has always been used to cover the crimes of the only people on earth whose very religion teaches them that murder and enslavement and cheating of all other peoples is a sacred right."But Mullins was fairly well-known, and if you read even a few pages of The Secrets of the Federal Reserve it's obvious what a debt he owes to his mentor Ezra Pound. I wrote a bit about Mullins when he died (click here); though some of his books and pamphlets are hard to come by, he is well-represented on the Internet. Jeff Rense's 2003 interview with him gives a fair sense of the man. 9/11 Truth might have been the least of his sins.
