More birther nonsense

Last month Texas State Representative Leo Berman (R, Tyler) filed House Bill 295, which requires future presidential candidates to present their original birth certificates to the Texas Secretary of State for certification.“This bill is necessary because we have a president whom the American people don’t know whether he was born in Kenya or some other place,” Berman told the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. “If you are running for president or vice president, you’ve got to show here in Texas that you were born in the United States and the birth certificate is your proof.”Last spring, Berman called Obama "God's punishment on us" at a Tyler, Texas "Taking Back America" rally; he appeared on Anderson Cooper's show yesterday to talk about his bill and about Obama's radical agenda and Cooper just eviscerated him. If you haven't seen the clip (it's been featured all over the blogosphere), it's pretty devastating. Creepier still is Berman's eery equanimity throughout their whole exchange. He doesn't seem to realize that Cooper has pulled the rug out from under him.
