Haiti earthquake and Ultra-low Frequency Emissions
A link to this very interesting article was just posted on my Bulletin Board with a comment that it's sure to be fodder for Conspiracy Theorists. Here's the gist of it:
Today, a group of geoscientists release the data associated with the M 7.0 earthquake that struck Haiti in January. They say that DEMETER saw a clear increase in ultralow frequency radio waves being emitted from the Earth's the crust in that region in the build up to the quake.
As a prophylactic against all the HAARP speculation that's sure to follow (there's already one in the article's comments), please note that it says that geo-scientists have been studying this phenomenon for one hundred years; they suspect the "telluric currents" are "generated by friction and piezoelectric effects within rock"--in other words, that they are a symptom, not a cause, of tectonic phenomena.
